Payroll Officer Job Description

The Payroll Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the timely and accurate processing of employee payments. This key position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.

  • Responsibilities:
  • Weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payroll processing, including off-cycle pay runs;
  • Partnering with business units to develop understanding of roles, awards, and pay complexities;
  • Analysis and audit of all payrolls, ensuring legislative and award compliance;
  • Participating in system upgrade projects and continual improvement of payroll processes;
  • Liaising with HR on employee appointments, terminations, remuneration, etc., and other relevant matters;
  • Various ad hoc payroll duties as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2+ years' experience as a Payroll Officer in a medium to large-sized organization;
  • Strong experience in EA/Modern Award interpretation;
  • Experience with medium-sized payroll and time-attendance systems like Ceridian (Preceda) and Kronos;
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information;
  • Intermediate Excel and Outlook experience;
  • Strong customer service skills.
