About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Corporate Counsel to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong legal background and excellent negotiation and influencing skills.

Responsibilities
  • Delivering timely, commercially astute strategic legal advice and support that is cost-effective and aligned to our operational and strategic plans.
  • Drafting and leading negotiations for complex or strategic contracts and key projects whilst delivering optimum value.
  • Acting autonomously as a trusted adviser to stakeholders, anticipating business, legal and regulatory issues, and seeking pragmatic customer focused solutions.
  • Building strong relationships and positively influencing stakeholders by acting in a manner aligned to our values.
  • Mentoring and acting as a role model to junior lawyers and/or secondees within the legal team.
  • Leading initiatives to enhance legal knowledge management and process innovation.
  • Supporting the Head of Team, General Counsel and Group Executive Legal and External Affairs and adhering to our policies and procedures.
Key Qualifications
  • Ability to deal with complex and high-risk commercial law issues.
  • Ability to build effective relationships and positively influence stakeholders by acting in a manner closely aligned to our values.
  • Well-organised with excellent planning skills, particularly the ability to set clear priorities, monitor and achieve specified outcomes.
  • Genuine team player with demonstrated relationship-building skills.
  • Enthusiastic, efficient and emotionally resilient.
  • Proactive, positive and innovative; with a strong desire to contribute to the development and implementation of long and short-term goals.
  • Legally qualified (holds a current practicing certificate or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 6 years PQE (or equivalent).
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills and ability to lead negotiations on complex legal transactions and issues.
  • Strong contract drafting and advisory skills.
  • Ability to strategically apply legal and regulatory knowledge to protect and enhance commercial interests.
  • Solid judgment and excellent decision-making skills.
