Support Worker for Individuals with Disabilities

As a Disability Support Worker at Support Care Angels PTY LTD, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of support services tailored to meet the unique needs of each client.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum Certificate III in Aged Care, Disability Care, Individual Support, or Community Care, or equivalent.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
- Current Australian Federal Police check.
- Willingness to obtain medication administration certification.
- Ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Driver's license preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Ability to remain calm and rational in emergencies.
- Capability to foster positive relationships with clients and support their individual care plans.
Key Responsibilities:
Travel and Transport Assistance:
Provide support for clients who are unable to utilize public or private transportation, ensuring they can attend their daily activities, educational pursuits, or workplaces.
Household Support:
Assist with general household tasks, including cleaning, yard maintenance, laundry, and meal preparation and delivery.
Personal Activity Support:
Facilitate the development of daily living skills, including hygiene, dressing, and other domestic tasks. For clients with more complex needs, support will be provided by qualified workers with additional experience.
Life Stage Transition Assistance:
Offer short or long-term support aimed at enhancing clients' abilities to coordinate their services, enabling them to live independently and engage with their community. This includes assistance with accommodation, tenancy obligations, decision-making, daily planning, budgeting, and fostering connections and resilience.
Community Participation:
Support clients in both individual and group community activities, including shopping, medical appointments, recreational events, and social gatherings, helping them build confidence and social skills.
Life Skills Development:
Encourage the development of skills necessary for independent living, including the ability to travel and utilize public transport with minimal assistance.
