Junior Financial Analyst

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Financial Analyst to join our finance team. This role will provide the opportunity for a university student in their final or penultimate year of study to gain hands-on experience in local government finance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with maintaining the accuracy and integrity of Council's financial ledgers and accounts.
  • Support treasury functions, cash management, and statutory reporting including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Help prepare Council's annual operating plan and monthly financial performance reports.
  • Process general ledger journals and maintain asset register data ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Assist with internal and external audit activities ensuring timely completion and minimal disruptions.
Requirements:
  • Currently in final or penultimate year of tertiary studies in Accounting, Commerce, Business or Finance with a strong academic record.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills with ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities while meeting deadlines.
