Key Responsibilities
The Clinical Nurse Consultant will play a crucial role in coordinating patients undergoing elective surgery and interventions, ensuring they are prepared in a safe and effective way that is patient-focused. Key responsibilities include:
- Single point of contact for patients, family, and key stakeholders.
- Triage requests for elective admission and ascertain fitness for surgery.
- Case manage complex patients prior to booking surgery, considering their preadmission information, past medical and surgical history, and other relevant information.
- Ensure patients are scheduled appropriately and timely to minimize day of surgery cancellations and in accordance with the ESAP.
- Actively review individual unit ESWL to ensure ESWL is a true reflection of ready for care status and initiate quality improvement strategies to enhance the patient experience.
- Identify barriers to efficiencies and work with perioperative management to improve Monash Health Elective Surgery performance and enable improved patient experience.
- Make regular contact with patients for advanced planning of surgery.
- Communicate effectively with key stakeholders relevant to the patient journey.
About You
We are seeking a Senior Nurse with a minimum of 5 years of surgical nursing experience, demonstrating the appropriate competencies and skills to lead the patient surgical journey from referral to day of surgery. Essential criteria include:
- Senior nursing experience in a leadership capacity.
- Expert clinical acumen in complex patient care.
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in an organized fashion to meet the clinical demands of the patient and family.
- Current driver's license.
- Master's degree in Nursing or working towards.
