Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled professional to provide confidential and non-judgmental support to students. As a Student Counsellor, you will work with individuals who are experiencing personal, psychological, life stage, cultural, and study-related issues.

The role requires professional expertise in counselling practices and young adult mental health. You will develop and present specialist group programs, workshops, and seminars to contribute to the professional practice of the centre.

You will have the skills and knowledge to provide advice and support to the community on matters relating to distressed and/or acutely unwell students.

The successful candidate will be working within a collaborative environment that supports flexible work arrangements. They will also be involved in projects that promote student and staff equity, Indigenous Reconciliation, and improve the quality of the student experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual counselling services to students
  • Develop and present specialist group programs, workshops, and seminars
  • Participate in projects that contribute to the professional practice of the centre
  • Provide advice and support to the community on matters relating to distressed and/or acutely unwell students
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve organisational goals

Selection Criteria

  • A relevant postgraduate qualification in psychology or a related field
  • Unconditional registration as a Clinical Psychologist and Psychology Board of Australia approved supervisory training
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Capacity to work autonomously and as part of a team
