Supporting Student Wellbeing

This role is pivotal in ensuring the academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development of students by providing guidance and support. The School Counsellor works closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to help students thrive both academically and socially.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Provide individual casework, group work, advocacy, research, and policy development to support student wellbeing.
  2. Develop and implement strategies to support students navigating social, emotional, and behavioural challenges.
  3. Offer proactive and responsive support to students experiencing emotional or behavioural challenges.
  4. Contribute to whole-school wellbeing initiatives and collaborate on preventative and responsive programs.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A relevant tertiary degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or Psychotherapy.
  • Demonstrated experience working as a school counsellor or in a similar role.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of diversity and principles for inclusion.
  • Proven capacity to respond effectively to critical incidents involving students.
  • Demonstrated strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Understanding of legal, ethical, and professional responsibilities.
