Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Virtualisation Specialist to join our team and drive positive changes in our cities and communities.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and enhancing our virtualisation platform and infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations and high-quality services.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure SLA compliance for all infrastructure solutions while delivering quality, timely, and cost-effective virtualisation initiatives and projects.
  • Consult on design, build, and implementation to ensure virtualisation requirements are met with a focus on quality, security, scalability, stability, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for Virtualisation platforms and related infrastructure services, ensuring incidents are logged, maintained, and resolved within SLA objectives.
  • Maintain the health of the Virtualisation Environment through end-to-end automated monitoring with self-healing capabilities while improving operational efficiency.
  • Enable seamless handover of virtualisation initiatives and projects to operational support streams while ensuring service standards are reviewed and updated regularly.
  • Participate in planned disaster recovery events and develop tools and strategies for automated disaster recovery processes.
  • Identify and manage risks proactively while ensuring compliance with business and technology policies.
  • Train and mentor staff on the operational use of Virtualisation Desktop Platforms and appropriate design practices to build internal capability.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • In-depth expertise with VMware virtualisation technologies, including VMware ESX, vSAN, vRealize Automation and Operations Manager, with proven experience designing, deploying, and managing VMware-based application platforms in pooled and persistent environments.
  • Strong proficiency in scripting and automation, especially using PowerShell, to streamline deployment, configuration, and ongoing infrastructure management tasks.
  • Solid understanding of data center operations, covering storage, networking, security, and core protocols such as HTTP, HTTPS, TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, SSH, SNMP, and FTP.
  • Experience integrating VMware solutions with cloud services, especially AWS, and an ability to keep pace with industry trends in virtualisation and hybrid infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated capability in end-to-end project delivery, with skills in documentation, stakeholder communication, and independent management of large-scale technology initiatives.
