Role Overview
The Educational Programs Lead serves as the primary educational authority, responsible for the design and implementation of high-quality educational offerings across our Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) sites, including term and vacation programs. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with the National Quality Framework, My Time Our Place, and the NSW Department of Education Curriculum. By employing a strengths-based and play-oriented approach, the Lead ensures that programs are engaging and appropriate for children of all ages and abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Development: Create, implement, and oversee innovative educational programs tailored to the needs of OSHC sites.
- Learning Outcomes: Ensure that children's learning and development align with the outcomes of approved educational frameworks.
- Program Planning: Develop term-based and vacation care programs aimed at enhancing attendance and service quality.
- Inclusivity: Foster an inclusive environment that welcomes children and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Resource Creation: Generate new formats, ideas, templates, or resources as necessary.
- Program Evaluation: Assess program effectiveness and engagement through continuous improvement practices, incorporating feedback from children and families.
Engagement and Mentorship
- Maintain active engagement with children while ensuring appropriate supervision ratios for their safety and well-being.
- Provide support and mentorship to emerging program facilitators, educators, and co-facilitators.
- Encourage the involvement of children and families in the co-creation of programs, promoting a collaborative learning environment.
Compliance and Management
- Ensure adherence to service policies and relevant legislation, guiding other educators in compliance.
- Manage programming budgets, resources, and stakeholder relationships in consultation with the Nominated Supervisor.
- Model positive behavior guidance policies, assisting children in developing essential skills.
- Act as a Responsible Person in the absence of the Nominated Supervisor and at other OSHC services as needed.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in a leadership role within educational or care settings is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in program planning, delivery, facilitation, and evaluation.
- Possession of a Diploma or Certificate IV in Children's Services, OSHC, Recreation, or a Degree/Diploma in Primary Teaching.
- Certification in First Aid, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis management is required.
- Experience as an educator or program facilitator in an educational environment.
- Strong understanding of the National Quality Framework, Child Safe Standards, and My Time Our Place.
