Small Engine Mechanic Job

We are looking for a skilled Small Engine Mechanic to join our team. As a Small Engine Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing small petrol and battery-powered engines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Detect and diagnose faults in engines and parts using manual and computer-assisted methods
  • Dismantle, inspect, and reassemble engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other components
  • Repair or replace worn or defective parts; refer to service manuals as required
  • Perform scheduled maintenance services (oil changes, lubrications, tune-ups) to ensure smooth operation and compliance with pollution regulations
  • Test and adjust mechanical components post-repair to verify proper performance
  • Inspect equipment and issue roadworthiness certificates or provide detailed guidance to achieve compliance
Qualifications
  • AQF Certificate III with at least two years of on-the-job training, or Certificate IV, OR a minimum of three years' relevant industry experience in lieu of formal qualifications
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing small petrol and battery-powered engines (e.g., lawn mowers, ride-on, trimmers, brushcutters, chainsaws)
  • Ability to read technical service manuals and use diagnostic tools and computer-assisted systems
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high efficiency, reliability, and customer satisfaction
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach
