Job Overview

This role supports the department in enabling its emergency management processes within a framework that emphasizes prevention, preparation, response, and recovery.

The successful candidate will engage with stakeholders and operate within a collaborative, all-hazards resilience framework to ensure the department is well-positioned to meet its responsibilities under disaster management arrangements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Foster relationships with stakeholders in emergency management and business continuity.
  • Provide expert advice and create documents on emergency management and business continuity.
  • Evaluate and refine emergency planning and readiness for disruptive events.
  • Develop and test emergency management scenarios with stakeholder collaboration.
  • Manage systems to optimize the department's response to and recovery from disruptions.
  • Participate in Watch Officer and Liaison Officer rosters working outside normal hours.
Requirements
  • Exceptional communication skills for clear correspondence and engaging with senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Ability to build and nurture professional relationships within and outside the organization.
  • Sound governance and adherence to high standards in risk management.
  • Analytical abilities to keep staff aware of current issues, with a solid understanding of legislation and policy frameworks.
