Academic Support Specialist

This position plays a vital role in supporting students who are diploma bound by facilitating their mastery of grade-level or above curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate student mastery of grade-level or above curriculum;
- Support students in general education classes and may provide individualized or small group reinforcement of instruction;
- Provide instructional and classroom management supports, as well as related clerical tasks to support teachers and other professional staff in various classrooms or learning environments;
- Assist with planning and continuing instructional activities during teacher temporary absences;
Requirements:
- Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of child development and instructional strategies;
- Understanding of educational goals and policies;
- Patient, able to work with children, young adults, and staff; able to follow written and verbal instructions; strong communication skills;
- Ability to read/write/speak English; ability to interact with and support students with special needs;
- Proficiency with standard computer hardware and software such as Google Workspace, MS Office, and web-based instructional tools;
