About the Role

Ventia is seeking a highly motivated and resilient individual to join our team as a Custody Officer. As a Custody Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of detainees, staff, and the public.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safeguarding Detainees
    • Transport and supervise detainees during critical activities
    • Participate in court activities and ensure safety requirements are met
  • Conflict Resolution
    • Manage conflicts and communicate empathetically with detainees
    • Maintain a professional, fair, and open-minded approach towards detainees
  • Security and Safety
    • Provide safety and security for detainees, staff, and the public
    • Conduct walking and mobile patrols of designated areas
    • Supervise detainees, escort them to appointments or court appearances, and maintain accurate records

What to Expect

  • Training and Development
    • Participate in a comprehensive training program to equip you with the skills and knowledge required for the role
  • Assessment Centre
    • Attend an assessment centre where you will participate in a fitness assessment, incident reporting, and a formal interview

Requirements

  • Availability and Commitment
    • Be available for full-time training for 6 weeks in Perth
    • Commit to a minimum of 12 months to obtain qualifications
  • Eligibility
    • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
    • Be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical, including a drug and alcohol test
