About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Procurement Officer to join our team at the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and contributing to a rolling proactive and reactive national project that protects the capability and usability of one of the world's largest geographically dispersed UHF operational Enforcement Communications networks.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a level of autonomy as part of a small team within the Project team to contribute to best practice procurement activities, within Departmental policy and guidelines, Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 and the Commonwealth Procurement Rules.

As a key member of our team, you will build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and manage day-to-day governance and procurement operations. You may also be asked to assist with similar tasks in the Operational Capability Branch from time to time and support other teams with their work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use existing government contracts, Panel arrangements and other appropriate procurement mechanisms to procure services and hardware
  • Contribute to Branch procurement activities such as open approaches to market, contract variations and Panel contracts
  • Provide procurement and contract management advice and support to the Section and stakeholders in relation to contract establishment process and ongoing management including identification of opportunities to improve procurement outcomes, efficiency and value for money
  • Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and support contract managers with contract enquiries, issues, disputes, variations, risks, negotiations and co-ordination of large and complex extensions or approaches to market

About Us

We offer a competitive remuneration package, including salary, superannuation benefits and flexible working conditions appropriate to the level of the position.

The salary range for this role is $84,335 to $99,779 per annum, plus superannuation benefits.

What We Are Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will have a minimum Certificate IV in Procurement and Contracting (or equivalent) and at least 2 years' recent experience in a primarily procurement or project-based role.

You should have knowledge and experience in government procurement and contract management activities, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
