Prosecution Career

As a professional in the legal field, you will play a critical role in providing prosecution services to members of the Service. This position involves providing legal advice on matters before the Magistrates, Children's and Coroners Courts. You will work as part of a large establishment with over fifty staff, combining sworn and civilian prosecutors with administration support. In this role, you will be responsible for police-related matters in the Southport Magistrates Court District, including a satellite office at Coolangatta.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a high-quality prosecution service across the area of responsibility.
  • Represent the Service and its members in proceedings before the Magistrates, Children's and Coroners Courts, ensuring effective representation and achievement of desired outcomes.
  • Offer expert legal advice within your designated area of responsibility on matters related to court processes.
  • Monitor and ensure the highest quality of briefs of evidence provided by police.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with various stakeholders, including the Queensland Police Service, legal professionals, government agencies, and the community, to achieve shared objectives.
  • Contribute to research, argumentation, submissions, opinions, and advice development, considering environmental factors impacting the work area.
  • Maintain high standards of performance and conduct in daily work activities.
Key Requirements

Eligibility: Admission as, or entitlement to practice as, a legal practitioner in the State of Queensland is mandatory.
