Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Estimator to lead our civil infrastructure estimating team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in first-principles cost estimation and cost modeling, as well as strong leadership skills.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior estimator to drive business success through exceptional estimating leadership. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering accurate first-principles cost estimates for major road, bridge, earthworks, and drainage projects.

You will oversee a talented team of estimators, mentor and develop staff capability, and ensure submissions are commercially sharp and strategically aligned.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver Accurate Cost Estimates: Develop and deliver accurate first-principles cost estimates for complex civil infrastructure projects;
  • Mentor and Develop Team Members: Mentor and develop team members to enhance their skills and career growth opportunities;
  • Benchmark Costs and Monitor Industry Trends: Benchmark costs, monitor industry trends, and strengthen relationships with suppliers;
  • Partner with Stakeholders: Partner with senior stakeholders to shape winning bid strategies;
  • Represent Estimating at Client Meetings: Represent estimating at pre-bid meetings, client presentations, and negotiations.
Requirements:
  • A degree in civil engineering, construction management, quantity surveying, or equivalent;
  • 10–15+ years' experience in civil infrastructure estimating;
  • Proven first-principles estimating and cost modeling expertise;
  • Strong networks in subcontractor/supplier markets across QLD & NSW;
  • Commercial and financial acumen, with ability to balance competitiveness and value;
  • Leadership experience managing estimating teams within contractor environment;
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience working with tier 1 or tier 2 contractors;
  • Proficiency with expert estimator and ideally p6;
  • Postgraduate or professional chartership (AIQS, RPEQ, CPEng).
