Job Summary

The Education Support Officer role is a key position that provides essential support to educational services. This fixed-term, part-time position plays a vital role in enhancing student experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supports teachers with routine tasks, including planning student routines and providing guidance on teaching methods.
  • Ensures effective communication between teachers and parents, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Communicates with teachers regarding routine matters related to students and other responsibilities, promoting efficiency.
  • Provides basic physical care and wellbeing support for students, such as toileting, meals, and lifting.
  • Develops strategies to support students' comprehension of basic tasks and information, ensuring they feel confident and supported.
  • Addresses immediate behavioral presentations relating to specific students within a classroom setting, adhering to school policies and procedures.
  • Provides basic support and supervision for individuals or groups of up to 4 students within a classroom setting, promoting a safe learning environment.
  • Collaborates with teachers to coordinate educational programs independently or under minimal supervision, including rostering and organizing the work of a team of aides, providing routine coordination, guidance, and support to other student support staff, and liaising with external providers of support services.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform duties consistent with established guidelines and frameworks.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively with others in a team environment, promoting a positive and productive work culture.
  • Excellent communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues and management.
  • Relevant technical knowledge and expertise relevant to the position.
  • Ability to provide advice and support to management and other school staff in respect to the work area.
