Job Overview: A Senior Accountant is required to prepare and analyze financial statements, manage budgets, cash flow forecasts, and provide management reports for stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and analyzing financial statements, managing budgets, forecasting, and providing management reports for stakeholders.
  • Maintaining compliance with Australian financial regulations, taxation laws, and accounting standards.
  • Conducting internal audits and investigations, presenting findings to management or boards.
  • Providing advisory services on cost management, risk control, and improving accounting systems and internal controls.
  • Liaising with external auditors, financial institutions, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Preparing, reviewing, and presenting monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Ensuring timely reporting to the Board, Audit & Risk Committee, and funding bodies.
  • Overseeing general ledger reconciliations and ensuring accuracy of financial data.
  • Preparing statutory financial reports in compliance with ACNC and ATO requirements.
  • Leading the annual budgeting process in consultation with management and program leaders.
  • Providing financial modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Supporting management in decision-making through financial insights.
  • Overseeing financial reporting for grants, donations, and government contracts.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate preparation of acquittals and compliance with funding agreements.
  • Tracking restricted vs. unrestricted funds and managing donor reporting obligations.
  • Overseeing payroll processes, including superannuation and leave provisions.
  • Managing salary packaging and fringe benefits tax (FBT) exemptions specific to NFPs.
  • Ensuring compliance with Fair Work, superannuation, and payroll tax obligations.
  • Ensuring compliance with ACNC, ATO, ASIC, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Supporting annual audit process and liaising with external auditors.
  • Maintaining and updating finance policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Supervising junior finance staff and providing mentoring, training, and development.
  • Collaborating with program managers to strengthen financial literacy across the organization.
  • Contributing to a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
