As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing leadership and expertise in mechanical engineering design projects. Your experience in detailed design, consulting, or complex engineering projects will enable you to contribute significantly to our multidisciplinary teams.
This role offers the chance to work on various projects, including heavy industrial equipment specification, fuel storage and handling, piping design, and product selection. You will collaborate with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and have the ability to customise and innovate solutions in challenging environments.
The key responsibilities of this position include:
- Leading mechanical engineering design project teams and assignments.
- Organizing, executing, coordinating, mentoring, and coaching team members while undertaking complex engineering tasks.
- Applying advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes.
- Contributing to and performing designs, preparing specifications, and operating within KBR's quality management system.
- Discussing and negotiating critical issues within the discipline both internally and with external stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent recognised discipline.
- Significant practical design experience with knowledge of local industry standards and local codes.
- Solid experience of leading a multi-disciplinary project team and the ability to mentor and develop team members.
- Experience in preparing and verifying design calculations using manual methods or computer programs, and guiding designers and drafters in the preparation of drawings.
- Proven ability to work in engineering teams and manage projects to scope, budget, and program.
- Significant experience in preparing and reviewing reports and technical specifications.
- The ability to liaise with clients, statutory authorities, and other consultants.
- A Chartered Engineer (CPEng) accreditation or eligibility to apply.
- Australian Citizenship preferred, with the ability to obtain Defence clearance.
