Job Description

Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Primary Health Care Manager to lead our team in providing comprehensive primary and population health care services to the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Provide strategic leadership and management to the primary health care team, ensuring cultural integrity and high standards of clinical care and client flow.
    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the health service, including clinical and personnel management.
  • Program Development and Implementation
    • Develop and implement programs to improve health outcomes for the community, in collaboration with the Miwatj program integration team and visiting health providers.
    • Ensure the clinic operates in a safe and efficient way, adhering to relevant legislation, guidelines, safety and quality standards.
  • Quality Improvement and Accreditation
    • Maintain accreditation standards and contribute to continuous improvement processes, ensuring the clinic meets National Key Performance Indicators (nKPI) for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary health care.
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve service delivery and cohesion among the team.
  • Human Resources and Budget Management
    • Manage the allocated budget and deliver upon Medicare generation.
    • Have direct line management of a multi-disciplinary team, including management of rostering, payments, leave requests, study requests, and personnel issues.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Build and lead a team to ensure excellent relationships internally and with external stakeholders.
    • Communicate effectively with people from diverse cultures, where English is not their first language.
Requirements
  • Qualifications and Experience
    • Eligible for registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
    • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a registered nurse, with a minimum of 2 years' experience working in a remote or regional community.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of indigenous culture and social determinants of health.
    • Ability to analyse and interpret relevant data to guide continuous quality improvement.
    • Highly developed managerial skills, including knowledge and demonstration of behaviors that support innovation and development of strategies to improve service delivery and cohesion among the team.
  • Other Requirements
    • Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
    • Current manual NT driver's license.
    • Current Remote Emergency Care course and/or Advanced life support.
    • Immunisation certificate appropriate for the Northern Territory.
