The Role of Religious Education Coordinator

The Religious Education Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring that the school delivers high-quality contemporary learning and teaching for the community it serves, which is embedded in the Catholic world view.

  • This involves leading a collaborative ministry of witness and service and being part of the evangelising mission of the Church.
  • The successful candidate will contribute a deep knowledge of the Religious Education curriculum and enhance the liturgical, sacramental, and spiritual life of the school.
  • They will build necessary relationships with the Parish Priest, parents, the learning community, CSPD, and other partners contributing to the work of Catholic schooling.
  • Creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and challenging learning environment is also a key responsibility.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful, you will demonstrate alignment to our purpose and values, together with:

  • A strong commitment to the Catholic faith in practice and lifestyle, witness, and modelling.
  • A minimum of four years' professional qualification in education.
  • Accreditation to teach RE and completion of a Master's degree in Religious Education/Theology or Educational Leadership.
  • Substantial currency in Religious Education pedagogy and knowledge of the Religious Education curriculum.
  • An understanding of contemporary learning theory and practice, and an ability to ensure this is evident in the teaching within the school.
  • Capacity to challenge and lead a school community that gives witness to the Catholic faith and its teaching and is aligned with the system strategic intent.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain positive peer relationships and engage actively within the school community.
  • Commitment to modelling school values and integrity.
  • A demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning and formation.
