The Parent Pathways Program addresses any challenges or concerns within the parent's immediate family, enabling them to focus on the future and identify areas of interest and set career goals. Further support with building skills and gaining qualifications is also provided.
Services are tailored to meet parents' needs, supporting them in overcoming personal barriers and becoming ready to find work or enter further education when the time is right.
As a Family Support Specialist, your role will involve:
- Person-centred case management for eligible parents with young children
- Addressing vocational and non-vocational needs
- Supporting parents' aspirations through tailored expertise and referring parents to internal and external services for further support where required
- Engaging with community organisations to develop strong opportunities
- Providing a calm, respectful, welcoming, and child-friendly service to maintain engagement
- Practising an empathetic approach towards parents and their circumstances to build trusted relationships and achieve positive outcomes
To succeed as a Family Support Specialist, you will need:
- Excellent communication skills
- Empathy and trauma awareness
- Ability to effectively work with a culturally diverse range of parents, employers, education and community service providers, and staff
- Excellent writing skills to write resumes, cover letters, assessments, referrals, and case notes
- Strong Labour Market knowledge
- A minimum Certificate III in a relevant field (including Social Work, Community Services, Education, Early Childhood Education and Care, Health, or Society and Culture) or Certificate IV in Employment Services or Career Development or demonstrated equivalent experience and willingness to work towards a relevant Certificate III or IV qualification
A competitive salary of $65,000 - $75,000 per annum (dependent on location and experience) awaits successful candidates. Additionally, we offer:
