We are currently seeking a skilled Derivatives Lawyer to join our team at Axiom, a leading global-based investment bank. This role will involve drafting and negotiating documentation associated with commodities and derivatives as part of a busy and collaborative team, with the ideal candidate having significant ISDA experience.

This is an exciting opportunity where you can bring your legal background and business acumen to tackle complex legal challenges on a global scale. As a Commodity Lawyer, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting legal and business teams with reviewing, drafting, and negotiating ISDA agreements with an emphasis on commodities and metals.
  • Drafting and negotiating OTC commodity derivatives documentation, including ISDAs, CSAs, control agreements, confidentiality agreements, collateral agreements, risk participation agreements, give-up agreements, confirmations, and ancillary documentation.
  • Providing legal counsel to internal business leaders and external counsel to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures and federal and international rules and regulations, particularly with regard to the ISDA.
  • Assisting in the implementation of new initiatives, processes, or protocols in an ever-shifting market.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 5+ years of experience practicing law, with at least 3 years of hands-on experience negotiating ISDA agreements, ideally within a large investment bank.
  • A firm understanding of the regulatory landscape impacting derivatives and commodities capital markets and the ability to provide sound legal advice to ensure compliance.
  • Excellent knowledge of all OTC derivatives documentation, with experience with commodities or metals being highly beneficial.
  • Sound judgment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize matters in a busy and fast-paced environment.
