About the role

This role is responsible for assisting in managing the environment to provide optimal conditions for layer hens to achieve maximum production daily while upholding strict animal welfare protocols.

Key responsibilities include conducting feed, water and light checks, as well as general maintenance to equipment where necessary.

Additionally, you will be responsible for conducting environmental checks to ensure birds are comfortable, and inspecting bird welfare, egg systems, and egg belts for ease of flow.

General cleaning and servicing of sheds and equipment will also be required.

About you:

  • Previous experience in the poultry industry is not essential, but would be highly regarded;
  • Current valid drivers' licence;
  • Strenuous physical activity may be involved, and therefore a robust physical nature is required to successfully fill this role;
  • Be prepared to work as part of a team, but be able to work autonomously when required;
  • Strong inter-personal skills, able to work co-operatively with internal and external contacts;
  • Willingness to adhere to all health and safety, bio-security and operational requirements;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Must be reliable, punctual and motivated;
  • Good attention to detail;
  • Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to carry out a range of different tasks.
