**Strategic Communications Lead**

We seek an experienced professional to lead strategic communications for a major government department.

You will manage key relationships, understand policy direction, and create communication programs that engage target audiences. The Manager develops the Department's communication strategy, working with teams to align narrative with policy goals.

The successful applicant will lead a team of advisors, project managing major communication activity and collaborating with managers to deliver coordinated communications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and delivery of strategic communication plans that meet Department needs.
  • Plan and project manage major communication activities that deliver on Department priorities.
  • Establish task assignments, coordinate personnel and suppliers to execute communication strategies and project plans.
  • Evaluate and provide feedback, incorporating learning into communications activity and advice.
  • Contribute to advising on appropriate means for communicating to target audiences.
  • Provide leadership, information, and guidance to employees to achieve outcomes and ensure compliance.
  • Establish and maintain a safe and healthy workplace that conforms to compliance standards.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of marketing and communications theory and practice.
  • Experience in managing complex organisation structures and senior stakeholder relationships.
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience, including motivating others and building team commitment.
  • Empowers others by investing them with authority and latitude to accomplish tasks.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Communications.
