Aboriginal Education Specialist

The Department of Education, Western Australia invites applications for an Aboriginal Education Specialist position at Governor Stirling Senior High School. This permanent full-time role offers an exceptional opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Aboriginal students and their families.
About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, engaging, and highly competent teacher who is committed to working collaboratively with the Maali team and teaching staff to improve educational outcomes for our Aboriginal students. The successful applicant will possess broad and up-to-date knowledge of best practice in working with Indigenous students and families, as well as high levels of motivation and commitment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support to our Aboriginal and Islander Education Officers (AIEO) and DSG staff in offering opportunities for our Aboriginal students to celebrate their cultural identity.
- Contribute to the case management of Aboriginal students with low attendance and gaps in their learning.
- Engage with our Aboriginal parents and families as a critical part of the role.

Eligibility Requirements
- Hold an eligible teaching qualification.
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
- Apply for a WA Working with Children Check before starting.
- Consent to and obtain a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit.
