The Role
Mt Lawley SHS seeks an enthusiastic and committed Media and Communications Officer (MCO) to join our team.
In this position, the successful candidate will support Mt Lawley SHS by developing and implementing communications, public relations, media, and engagement strategies for the school. This role focuses on creating and delivering comprehensive, integrated plans for public relations, communication, and engagement.
The ideal candidate will produce a range of school printed and online publications, including yearbooks, course books, and handbooks using various IT programs and software. Additionally, they will be responsible for capturing photographic images for promotional materials and social media posts. Furthermore, the successful candidate will help plan, organize, promote, and attend school events and activities, including some outside regular working hours.
We expect the successful applicant to have a passion for connecting our school to the community in a way that engages and informs current students and their families.

Eligibility
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment;
- obtain a valid Working With Children Check before starting; and
- consent to a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit.

Salary: The salary for this position ranges between $75,000 - $105,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
Key Requirements:
- Demonstrated skills and experience within a journalism or media environment, including proficiency in using photographic equipment;
- Well-developed written communication skills, including the ability to proofread, edit, and prepare material for publication in various styles and formats for a range of audiences;
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including building relationships and networks with internal and external customers;
- Sound initiative and organizational skills, with the ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment to meet conflicting deadlines;
- Proficiency in web technology and online publications.
