Defence Industry Career Starter Program

This 12-month traineeship is an exceptional opportunity to kickstart a career with purpose in the defence industry.

Candidates will engage in a hybrid curriculum covering vital areas within the defence industry, including engineering, manufacturing, administration, IT, logistics, procurement, supply chain, and CAD.

The program offers a unique blend of classroom learning at TAFE Regency Park and hands-on training through three 12-week placements with leading defence industry employers.

Gaining practical experience across these areas will prepare candidates for a range of dynamic roles in both blue- and white-collar environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete a 12-month traineeship with three 12-week placements with leading defence industry employers.
  • Participate in classroom learning at TAFE Regency Park and engage in hands-on training across engineering, manufacturing, administration, IT, logistics, procurement, supply chain, and CAD.
  • Gain practical experience across these areas to prepare for a range of dynamic roles in both blue- and white-collar environments.
  • Receive ongoing support from dedicated mentors, coaches, and educators throughout the traineeship.
  • Be paid for the duration of the traineeship (includes annual leave, personal leave and superannuation).

Candidates must satisfactorily pass a National Police Clearance, Baseline Security Check (must be an Australian citizen) and medical checks including drug & alcohol screening before a formal offer of employment is provided. Eligibility criteria apply in relation to work rights.

You will be paid in accordance with the National Training Wage.

This program has quickly built a reputation of excellence. Over 100 trainees have graduated over the past three years, many of them having now moved onto fulfilling full-time roles within the defence industry.
