We are seeking a Public Art Project Officer to join our Arts and Culture team.

  • Coordinate the planning, commissioning, and delivery of public art mural projects.
  • Cultivate relationships with artists, curators, local organisations, and Council staff to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Develop strong connections with community stakeholders to reflect local identity in public artworks.
  • Foster community consultation and engagement to ensure public art reflects local identity and values.
  • Support community engagement, consultation, and promotion of mural projects.
  • Contribute to the development of a municipal-wide mural site selection process, including criteria development and stakeholder mapping.
  • Maintain and document artworks.
  • Assist with contract administration, risk assessment, and compliance with relevant policies.
  • Organise events, launches, and tours to increase public awareness and appreciation of public art.

The ideal candidate will bring a blend of creative and administrative skills, with qualifications in public art, arts administration, community development, or visual arts, or equivalent professional experience.

A demonstrated ability to deliver public art or community arts projects is essential, as is a solid understanding of project management, including coordinating with artists and managing timelines.

Skillful relationship building across diverse stakeholders—including artists, community groups, and internal teams—will be crucial, as will excellent written and verbal communication skills.
