Job Description

The NSW Government is seeking a highly skilled Associate Director to undertake research and provide policy advice on matters related to public sector budget management and performance.

This key role involves building and maintaining relationships within the Treasury and across the government to progress projects from concept to completion. Key responsibilities include spearheading both quantitative and qualitative research, formulating well-founded conclusions and recommendations for senior decision-makers.

This position also requires leading individual projects or small project teams to deliver key priorities, managing analysts to ensure learning and development objectives are met and work priorities are delivered.

The successful candidate will have a sound understanding and professional experience in public sector financial management policy, including the annual budget process and whole-of-government budget management policies and frameworks.

Critical assessment of financial data and application of basic quantitative analysis techniques are essential skills required for this role.

Additionally, the ability to communicate policy or financial analysis clearly and effectively (verbally and in writing) is necessary for success in this role.

Experience engaging, negotiating, influencing and exercising leadership with a diverse range of stakeholders is also valuable.

Finally, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team are highly valued in this role.
