Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Financing & Advisory Group in Sydney, Australia. The successful candidate will support the origination and execution of structured finance transactions, particularly within the Mining, Metals, and related industries sectors.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial modeling, with advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience in generating pitch material. They will also possess a deep understanding of accounting concepts, financial statements, and cashflows.

Key Accountabilities
  • Prepare and maintain financial models supporting advisory mandates, including creating and running financial scenarios and sensitivities.
  • Interrogate financial models for financing mandates, including creating and running sensitivities and checking integrity.
  • Review and supervise financial modeling tasks undertaken by junior staff, and complete more complex modeling tasks where required.
  • Stay abreast of developments across sectors, particularly Mining & Metals finance, as well as current transactions and opportunities in the market.
  • Provide day-to-day transaction support, including structuring, pricing, preparing credit applications, undertaking detailed financial analyses, due diligence analyses, and assisting the deal team leader to provide best-in-class lending and advisory services to the client base.
  • Respect all relevant compliance practices and other internal requirements in relation to the execution of advisory & lending transactions.
  • Manage internal processes relating to the arranging and advisory business, including updating databases, credit application writing, and completing relevant internal system-based processes.
  • Identify potential marketing opportunities and prepare pitch material, including reviewing feasibility studies, detailed analysis of financial models, etc.
  • Establish a network of contacts at key clients and prospective clients.
  • Supervise and develop junior team members, including appropriate delegation and review of certain tasks suitable to the skills and experience of those junior team members, while maintaining a high quality of overall team execution.
Requirements

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications, experience, and knowledge:

  • University degree in a relevant discipline (Finance, Engineering, Business, Commerce, Law) or a professional financial qualification.
  • Postgraduate qualifications considered favorably.
  • Experience in Mining & Metals finance and sector knowledge, and/or another structured finance environment utilizing similar tools, processes, and procedures will also be favorably considered.
  • 3-5 years' relevant experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including strong financial modeling skills.
  • Experience in generating pitch material that is clear, structured, compelling, and comprehensive in addressing clients' needs.
  • Strong numerical skills with an advanced understanding of accounting concepts, financial statements, and cashflows.
