Role Overview:

We are seeking a Sous Chef to join our catering team at Sydney Airport.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning and directing food preparation, supervising staff, and addressing operational issues.

The Sous Chef will oversee daily food production, including ordering supplies, managing labor, and controlling costs.

This is a full-time permanent position with 38 hours of work per week.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Food Preparation: Plan and direct food preparation, ensuring high-quality culinary items are produced consistently.
  • Staff Supervision: Supervise kitchen staff, providing on-the-job training and leadership guidance.
  • Operational Management: Address operational issues, manage labor, and control costs.
  • Menu Development: Participate in the development of new food products and menus as needed.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Trade-qualified Chef with at least 2 years' experience in a high-volume food production environment.
  • Skills: Advanced knowledge of HACCP / QSAI / Food Safety and OHS, prior experience with airline catering and service-oriented environments.
  • Personal Qualities: Strong communication and organizational skills, good financial understanding, and cost-conscious mindset.
