Highly Skilled Electrical Protection and Control Systems Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Protection and Control Systems Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing electrical protection and control systems, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of complex electrical networks.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical protection and control system design, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects within the power sector. They will also possess strong budgetary and project management skills, accompanied by good commercial knowledge of design and construction contract forms such as NEC.
Chartered Status is highly desirable, with a professional body such as the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) or the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE). A Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (typically 2:1 or above) in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field is required. A master's degree may be preferred for senior roles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement electrical protection and control systems, including substation automation and SCADA systems
- Develop specifications and P&C logic drawings for substation protection and control / SCADA / Substation automation systems
- Generate PSL logic files and relay setting files for various relays
- Collaborate closely with other designers, construction professionals, and engineering teams
- Liaise effectively with external stakeholders, including end clients, other design houses, and consultancies
- Ensure timely and budget-friendly delivery of work that meets customer expectations
- Provide valuable support to operational staff and answer technical queries
- Engage proactively with internal and external clients and suppliers to answer technical queries
- Attend site/commissioning to resolve issues, answer site queries, TQs, RFIs, etc.
- Review and provide constructive feedback on reports and drawings done by junior engineers
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering their professional growth
- Approve and check design/studies done by others
- Adhere strictly to company's SHEQ requirements and GSOP
- Manage a team of senior engineers and design engineers as a Team Lead
