About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Finance Advisor to join our team at the Queensland State Government Department. As a key member of the Financial Services team, you will be responsible for delivering client-centered financial advice and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of strategic and effective financial management outcomes for client business areas by facilitating monthly meetings, forecasting expenditures, identifying funding risks, and costing new initiatives.
  • Provide expert consultancy and advisory services on financial matters, including the analysis and interpretation of legislation, policies, frameworks, cost trends, and other related issues.
  • Prepare complex briefing notes, reports, policy documents, and communications on financial topics.
  • Research, develop, recommend, and implement financial systems, policies, and business processes that align with best practices, address client needs, and support strategic, business, and operational goals.
  • Analyze and reconcile high-level data to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information systems, including SAP ECC, Power BI, and Queensland Treasury's Tridata system, incorporating QIA, ATM, and CFM modules.
  • Provide technical accounting expertise for statutory reporting, including the preparation of the department's annual audited financial statements, budget papers, and materials for the Portfolio Estimates process.
Requirements
  • Fantastic communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proven experience in providing customer service and demonstrated ability to meet conflicting deadlines.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or other BI tools.
  • Experience working within QLD State Gov or Local Council is highly beneficial.
