The Green Recruitment Company is partnering with a leading international developer to find a Senior Legal Counsel to join their Australian team based in Sydney.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced lawyer at a private practice looking to move in-house, or an exciting next step for a Legal Counsel to be at the forefront of the energy transition in Australia.
Key Responsibilities:- Advise the business on its day-to-day legal requirements and legal aspects of transaction processes.
- Design and implement joint venture arrangements with local development partners.
- Assist with securing project rights and project finance for a portfolio of renewable energy projects.
- Identify and implement the most suitable corporate structure for a given project.
- Manage and oversee legal, compliance, and governance risks in the energy market in the Australian region.
- Provide general legal support for large-scale renewable energy projects.
- Monitor project timelines, milestones, and deliverables to ensure legal compliance.
- Manage and instruct external counsel.
- Law degree from a recognized university.
- 7+ years of post-qualification experience in a private practice law firm or as in-house counsel for a renewable energy developer or in the energy and infrastructure field.
- Experience supporting the development of utility-scale solar and BESS projects in Australia.
- Excellent negotiation, contract drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience with land lease and land purchase transactions.
- Experience across a range of corporate transactions, including mergers & acquisitions, joint venture arrangements, and funding/project financing.
- Enjoy working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment that is at the forefront of the energy transition in Australia.
