Conduct Integrity Investigations Director

The Australian community expects ACIC employees to maintain the highest levels of security and integrity. The Assistant Director, Integrity Investigations will lead a small team of investigators to undertake investigations into internal integrity and conduct matters relating to ACIC employees and members of staff.
Our ideal candidate will be experienced in conducting criminal, administrative and misconduct investigations. They will provide specialist guidance to the Director Integrity on integrity and conduct matters and processes and contribute positively to team, branch, agency and APS outcomes.
Key responsibilities include contributing under the leadership of the Director Integrity to joint agency operations with our integrity oversight and law enforcement partners in strategic and operational contexts. This includes leading investigators to meet Australian Government requirements and undertaking balanced and professional investigations in line with relevant policy and legislation.
In this role, you will also lead and mentor junior team members and direct reports in the Integrity team. You will undertake complex administrative investigations and criminal investigations. Furthermore, you will provide specialist advice to the Director Integrity in relation to integrity risk and contribute to effective integrity processes, methods and internal governance.
We are looking for an experienced and effective leader who can identify talent and motivate others. They should display self-awareness, self-reflection and high-level communication skills including persuasive negotiation and investigative interviewing experience.
The ideal candidate will have experience conducting and leading complex administrative and/or criminal investigations and holds qualifications in Commonwealth investigations. They should work well under pressure and can undertake and lead investigations in broad public service contexts.
This role requires a compliance awareness and focus and the ability to contribute effectively toward the development of agency integrity culture, working well with internal and external stakeholders.
A strong written communication skillset is essential, with experience writing policies, procedures, reports, investigative documents and briefs, operational risk assessments and briefing. Additionally, the candidate must consider and manage complex risks and be able to work with external partners on joint operations.
