Bus and Truck Yard Operator Opportunity

This is a dynamic role where you will be responsible for the safe movement of buses and trucks around the yard, as well as assisting with vehicle licencing requirements and minor mechanical jobs.

  • Ensure efficient movement of vehicles within the yard.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as Oil Changes, Tire Pressure Checks, and Battery Replacement.
  • Coordinate detailing & final vehicle preparations.
  • Collaborate with the Workshop and Sales teams to meet movement targets.
  • Participate in local part runs when applicable.
  • Movement of trucks to various suppliers.
  • Occasional truck delivery to metro/regional customer sites.
  • Assist workshop with basic road testing.
  • Ad hoc duties as required.

The successful applicant must demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in a similar position.
  • Experience with mechanical repairs would be advantageous.
  • Mechanical aptitude and interest.
  • Current & valid HR licence.
  • Forklift licence (highly desirable although not essential).
  • Strong commitment for health and safety in the workplace.
  • Positive and proactive approach to work.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivation and autonomy.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist with vehicle maintenance and repair tasks.

- Ensure the safe movement of buses and trucks around the yard.

- Assist with vehicle licencing requirements.

- Participate in ad hoc duties as required.
