Role Overview

As a Senior Engineer at Gold Fields, you will play a critical role in facilitating the optimal extraction of gold ore from mining operations. Reporting to the Unit Manager Underground, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive underground mine planning, design, evaluation, and scheduling that aligns with EHS standards and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement extraction strategies, critical path, and high exposure areas through iterative scenario planning.
  • Undertake underground medium and long-term mine design, scheduling, and evaluation work, including design of ventilation, dewatering, backfill, electrical, and other infrastructure systems.
  • Coordinate regular planning meetings to ensure clear understanding and direction of objectives among the mining team.
  • Manage, support, and grow other planning engineer team members for future success.
  • Optimise systems, processes, and practices by reviewing and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Liaise with operational departments to ensure planning process delivers operational requirements.
  • Actively participate in operational reviews of performance to improve mine planning processes.
  • Ensure maximum return on investment by carrying out optimization, design, and evaluation work.
Requirements
  • Degree Qualification in Mining Engineering.
  • First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency.
  • Extensive underground mining experience with excellent knowledge in production, ventilation, projects, paste fill, planning, and scheduling.
  • Experience with managing contract mining service providers.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, Deswik CAD, and Scheduler.
