Job Role Overview

The Pipeline Release Manager assumes a pivotal position in ensuring the seamless deployment of animation pipeline code. By collaborating closely with the Pipeline team and Production, this individual is responsible for implementing and managing release processes that meet functionality and performance criteria.

This role entails:

  • Developing and maintaining a robust release management process to guarantee successful deployments;
  • Working collaboratively with the Pipeline Project Manager to ensure timely delivery of updates based on development plans;
  • Coordinating with the pipeline team and production side users to verify all release criteria are met;
  • Identifying and mitigating potential risks, proactively addressing issues to avoid impacting release times;
  • Overseeing post-release activities to gather feedback from stakeholders and facilitate continuous improvements;
  • Monitoring and maintaining deployment environments to ensure compatibility with upcoming releases;
  • Documenting and disseminating release notes to Production and CG Supervisors;
  • Serving as the primary point of contact during release activities, coordinating efforts to resolve issues when necessary.
Essential Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this position, candidates should possess:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in release management or a related role within software development or IT operations;
  • A strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile practices;
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multiple departments and stakeholders;
  • Familiarity with version control systems, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools, and release automation technologies;
  • An ability to analyze data and metrics to assess release performance and identify areas for improvement;
  • A detail-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving abilities to address challenges that arise;
  • Proficiency in risk management and mitigation strategies to ensure seamless release;
  • Experience with environment management software Jenkins, Git, and Rez;
  • A background in animated feature films, TV series, and VFX production;
  • Programming skills in languages like Python to support automation and troubleshooting during releases.
