Job Description

The role of EHS Consultant is to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and drive the continual improvement of operational and personnel safety, occupational health, and environmental performance.

The EHS Consultant reports directly to the Global Head of Operations and works within the designated region in the Mining and Process Solutions business. This role has close relationships with GLT leadership, personnel, and regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • EHS Development and Implementation:
    • Set direction for the business, lead, implement, and audit safety, health, and environmental efforts.
    • Work with leadership and personnel to maintain high performance and awareness for EHS.
    • Provide guidance and consultation to the business and its partners.
    • Review and update procedures on a periodic basis.
  • Reporting:
    • Provide insight, training, and information regarding safety strategic objectives and regulatory compliance issues.
    • Provide timely EHS metrics and reports internally and externally.
  • Risk and Compliance:
    • Facilitate inspections and requests from regulatory agencies.
    • Ensure business compliance with applicable corporate standards, local procedures, federal and state regulations.
    • Conduct risk assessments to identify and control environmental and safety risks.
  • Relationship building:
    • Lead and/or participate in corporate EHS networks and community outreach efforts.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate must have either a bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental, Health, Safety, or a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with at least 5-10 years of relevant EHS experience in a similar industry. Registration as a Certified Safety Professional is preferred.

They must have the ability to read and interpret complex regulations, work with employees to ensure compliance, and possess a solid understanding of document management, root cause analysis, and the Plan-Do-Check-Act process.

A strong working knowledge of applicable regulations and EHS principles related to Process Safety, Environmental Management, Security, Transportation, Emergency Response, and/or Product Stewardship is also required.
