Job Title: Safety Compliance Advisor

Ensuring the safety of all maintenance and construction works on-site is a crucial task for this role. As a frontline position, you will play a pivotal part in providing second-line assurance across all projects.

About the Role
  • This key operational role requires a highly motivated and capable individual to work closely with contractors and internal stakeholders to manage interface risks and maintain operational readiness.
  • The successful candidate will possess extensive knowledge of high-risk environments and be able to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and permits effectively.
Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct regular assurance inspections and audits during both day and curfew periods to ensure compliance with stringent safety protocols.
  2. Monitor contractor compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS), quality, environmental, and security obligations to prevent potential risks.
  3. Provide expert advice and coaching on risk controls to ensure that all personnel understand their roles and responsibilities.
  4. Participate in risk workshops, toolbox talks, and pre-start briefings to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  5. Assess contractor Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), Safety and Quality Management Plans, and permits to ensure they meet safety standards.
  6. Support coordination between projects, maintenance, and operations to ensure seamless execution.
  7. Assist with return-to-service tasks after curfew periods to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity.
  8. Help implement the Critical Risk Program, including assurance processes to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  9. Identify and support initiatives for ongoing improvement to enhance safety protocols and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in construction, engineering, WHS, or a related field are essential for this role.
  • Experience in construction supervision or compliance roles is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, QA systems, and risk management is critical for success in this position.
  • Skilled in incident response, inspections, and contractor engagement to effectively manage risks and ensure compliance.
  • Able to work rotating shifts and manage competing priorities to meet the demands of this role.
  • Customer-focused with a commitment to service delivery to provide excellent customer service.
