Position Overview

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is in search of a distinguished and seasoned legal expert to take on the role of Senior Corporate Counsel Manager. This position is pivotal in our commitment to advancing scientific endeavors and enhancing global health.

In this capacity, you will oversee and direct a legal team dedicated to supporting our operations in the ANZ region, working in tandem with both regional and international teams on a variety of legal and compliance challenges. As a vital member of the ANZ Leadership Team, your contributions will be essential in aligning with our strategic objectives while ensuring adherence to legal standards and corporate policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all legal and compliance functions within ANZ, encompassing commercial law, competition regulations, governance, intellectual property, litigation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate closely with the ANZ leadership and global teams on commercial agreements and proposals, offering legal insights on diverse business matters.
  • Partner with regional and global teams to establish and execute a compliance framework that is consistent with the Company’s values and local regulations.
  • Engage with various business units within ANZ on topics such as marketing practices and product liability issues.
  • Build and manage a proficient legal team.
  • Formulate and execute an annual operational strategy for ANZ, which includes workforce planning and budget oversight.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution.
  • 15+ years of legal practice experience in Australia.
  • Background in representing healthcare, life sciences, or other regulated industries.
  • Demonstrated capability to collaborate with large corporations and adapt various legal strategies.
  • Strong business acumen, sound judgment, and effective influencing abilities.
  • Proficient in developing actionable processes and driving initiatives to fruition.
  • Experience in team leadership and management, with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in both spoken and written English.
