Job Description:

A part-time, ongoing position at Mother Teresa School seeks a highly skilled Literacy Program Director to play a major leadership role in driving literacy improvement across the school.

Responsibilities:
  • Familiarize yourself with and adhere to the school's child-safe policy, as well as standards and MACS code of conduct.
  • Be an active participant in the School Leadership Team, contributing to weekly meetings.
  • Collaborate strategically with the Principal, Deputy Principal, and Wellbeing/Learning Diversity Leader to enhance whole-school literacy development.
  • Stay up-to-date with professional literature and evidence-based best practices in literacy education, sharing relevant insights with the leadership team and staff.
  • Implement the MACS Vision for Instruction in line with the Mother Teresa 2024-2027 School Improvement Plan.
  • Design and lead literacy professional learning for staff, including induction programs for new staff members to foster expertise and consistency.
  • Mentor, guide, and support classroom teachers and staff to deliver high-quality literacy education, modeling best practice and providing coaching when needed.
  • Participate in Team Planning sessions to assist class teachers in planning effective literacy instruction.
  • Analyze data and leverage the School Improvement Framework to drive the Annual Literacy Action Plan.
  • Collaborate with the Deputy Principal to manage, analyze, and act on literacy data.
  • Coordinate the F-6 assessment schedule in literacy and oversee the collection and assessment of individual student data as needed.
  • Complete MACS surveys as required, including the beginning and end-of-year Literacy Data Collection.
  • Monitor classroom teachers' literacy documentation to ensure compliance with school and system requirements.
  • Support teachers in completing, analyzing, and documenting assessment records to inform teaching and learning decisions.
  • Assess student performance data to inform teaching and learning strategies in conjunction with year-level teams and leaders.
  • Diligently document programs and planned support, regularly reporting progress to leadership and classroom teachers.
  • Provide regular feedback to teachers about students' learning and communicate with families regarding student progress.
  • Develop strategies for 'exit' from programs and support teachers in monitoring ongoing progress of students who have participated in intervention programs.
  • Liaise with the Principal/Deputy Principal and Wellbeing/Learning Diversity Leader regarding the implementation of Intervention programming.
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings with the Intervention team to lead and support procedures and programs that address students' needs.
  • Engage in MACS/Northern Regional Numeracy-related networks and meetings, providing relevant feedback to the leadership team and staff.
  • Contribute to parent education in literacy through the school newsletter, website, and parent information sessions.
  • Evaluate and ensure the availability of necessary resources for effective literacy instruction.
  • Manage the literacy budget, collaborating with the Deputy Principal and other relevant leaders.
  • Oversee the organization, purchasing, and storage of literacy resources and complete an annual audit.
