Data Engineer for Business Intelligence and Analytics

This is a challenging opportunity to work as a Data Engineer for Business Intelligence and Analytics with Cover Genius, a leading company in the insurtech space. Based in Australia, the company is rapidly growing and seeking highly skilled professionals to join their Data Engineering Team.

As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and performance of the company's data warehouse. Your responsibilities will include curating, documenting, testing, and monitoring datasets, adhering to industry best practices to maximize efficiency in data loading and transformations, troubleshooting and resolving issues with data pipelines, databases, and data warehouse, working with stakeholders to define and track KPIs that align with business goals and objectives, analyzing and interpreting data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that drive informed decision-making, automating manual processes to improve efficiency and reduce the risk of errors, participating in on-call rotations to ensure that the company's data systems are available and accurate, and staying up-to-date with the latest developments in data engineering and analytics.

Key qualifications for this role include strong proficiency in using cloud data warehouse such as BigQuery or Snowflake, familiarity with the data warehouse architecture, best practices and performance optimization, at least 4 years of experience in data modeling for the data warehouse schema, advanced SQL, DBT, and data modeling skills, experience working with large sizes of changing data, immutable data, and events data schemas, and experience developing dashboards and reports using BI tools such as Apache Superset, Looker, Tableau, etc.

The ideal candidate will have a BS in Computer Science, Math, or a related STEM field, excellent communication and collaboration skills, the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, critical thinking, and strong problem-solving skills. A bonus would be having a MS, PhD in Computer Science, Math, or a related field, and at least 1 year of work experience in developing Airflow pipelines.

Cover Genius offers a competitive salary of $140,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
