Senior Prosecutor

The Queensland Police Service is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Prosecutor to provide professional prosecution services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice to members of the Service on matters before the Magistrates, Children's and Coroners Courts.

  • Provide a prosecution service for the area of responsibility.
  • Monitor the provision of briefs of evidence by police for use in summary trials and for committal proceedings.
  • Liaise with members of the Queensland Police Service, the legal profession, government agencies and the community.
  • Take a lead role in the development and provision of quality legal research, argument, submissions, opinion and advice.
  • Manage resources to achieve efficient operations for the area of responsibility.

Key Requirements:

  • Admission as, eligibility for immediate admission as, or entitlement to practice as, a legal practitioner in the State of Queensland.

Applications remain current for 12 months.

Requirements
  • Hold a degree in law from a recognized institution.
  • Have extensive experience in prosecution work.
  • Be admitted as a legal practitioner in the State of Queensland.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
