Job Title: Video Producer

Reporting to the Head of Vision at The Australian, the video producer will be responsible for creating compelling video content that breaks news and shapes the national conversation.

This role offers the chance to work on a small, dynamic team of storytellers, producing both short and long-form videos. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in using Premiere Pro, mirrorless/video cameras, and Adobe programs such as After Effects and Photoshop.

The successful candidate will be able to develop content ideas, research, script, and edit video content that resonates with audiences. They will also be able to contribute to increased audience growth, measured in total views and engagement time, and subscriber growth in key market segments.

The video producer will be expected to stay on top of both domestic and international news trends and have a strong understanding of social media trends, particularly around key news events.

Responsibilities:
  • Creation and delivery of audience-focused video content
  • Developing content ideas, researching, scripting, and editing
  • Contributing to increased audience growth and subscriber growth
  • Staying up-to-date with social media trends and news events
Requirements:
  • At least three years of experience in a newsroom environment
  • Proficiency in Premiere Pro, mirrorless/video cameras, and Adobe programs
  • Strong understanding of social media trends and news events
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)
