Job Title: Military Provost Guard Service

The Military Provost Guard Service (MPGS) plays a crucial role in providing professional soldiers to meet armed security requirements at various military bases across the UK mainland.

Our primary objective is to counter the terrorist threat posed to these bases. To achieve this, our duties include:

  1. Security incident management – such as handling suspicious packages, bomb threats, and protests
  2. Patrolling site perimeters – taking necessary action to preserve perimeter security
  3. Controlling entry and exit – managing control room and gate operations, ensuring all visitors are dealt with efficiently
  4. Military Working Dog services (at selected sites)
Key Responsibilities:
  • Counter terrorism and maintain the security of military bases
  • Manage security incidents and respond accordingly
  • Patrol site perimeters and ensure perimeter security is maintained
  • Control entry and exit points and manage visitor flow
Requirements:

To be eligible for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  1. Background – at least 3 years prior Military Service or currently serving in any arm of the British Military, regular or reserves
  2. Age – over 18 years and under 57 years of age at re-enlistment
  3. Fitness Eligibility – medically fit with a Body Mass Index below 32
  4. Driving Licence – full UK driving licence with less than 8 penalty points

Candidates who meet the requirements will have the opportunity to serve in a variety of locations across the UK mainland, with the option to choose their preferred posting. Our units are located at over 120 sites across the country.
