About the Role

The Lead Design Engineer will be responsible for spearheading the development and refinement of innovative engineering solutions across a range of projects. This will involve overseeing the design process from concept through to completion, ensuring that all products meet high standards of quality, functionality, and reliability.

The successful applicant will have a strong background in engineering, with a degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics, and RPEQ Certification. They will also have a minimum of 10 years' experience in design and engineering, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.

The ideal candidate will be a clear communicator, have a proactive outlook, and be results and timeline driven. They will also have strong leadership skills, project management skills, and experience in product quality and certification management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Presenting creative and practical engineering design concepts
  • Leading and managing the engineering and drafting team
  • Coordinating design projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals
  • Directing, reviewing, and approving product design and changes
  • Being a trusted technical advisor and subject matter expert
  • Coordinating the preparation of project budgets, schedules, and resources
  • Preparing cost analysis on the development of new products
  • Managing schedules for engineering, design, drafting, and fabrication works
  • Coordinating with manufacturing to create prototypes and field test equipment
  • Creating detailed engineering plans, processes, procedures, and standards
  • Quality assurance checks and product certification
  • Leading weekly engineering meetings to ensure critical next steps, owners, and dates are clearly communicated
  • Coaching and developing the engineering team members
  • Developing relationships and fostering collaboration with functions including Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Business Development, and Operations
