Position Overview
We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to become a vital part of our finance department in Canberra. This role entails managing the accounting functions of a specific business unit, which includes month-end and year-end processes, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
Reporting directly to the Senior Financial Accountant, your primary responsibilities will encompass:
- Ensuring accurate and timely account reconciliations.
- Delivering financial insights and analyses within set reporting timelines.
- Preparing monthly and annual financial statements.
- Handling compliance tasks such as BAS, FBT, superannuation, work cover, and payroll tax returns along with the necessary supporting documentation.
- Assisting in the financial planning and forecasting for the business unit.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A degree in accounting
- 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in an accounting position
- Excellent communication abilities
- Strong organizational skills to manage competing priorities
- A customer-centric approach
- Current enrollment or intent to pursue CPA certification
