About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Specialist to ensure adherence to IS-SPP, Defence Security Policies and frameworks. As a key member of our team, you will provide day-to-day guidance to colleagues to meet routine security obligations.

An active NV2 Security Clearance is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyse alerts and alarms, classify and action in accordance with customer IT Security guidelines.
  • Advise parties on available patches or updated vendor applications and assist with upgrades when requested.
  • Ensure correct routing information, backups, file review, archiving, database purging, and other routine housekeeping activities are performed.
  • Be responsible for configuration changes to devices and servers, including tuning false positives, in accordance with change control, release, and configuration management guidance.
  • Monitor network data streams and event log data to detect and prevent intrusion attempts.
  • Optimise and maintain gateway operations and perform vulnerability management to identify and treat network vulnerabilities according to set guidelines.
  • Ensure service availability meets or exceeds customer SLAs.
  • Maintain agreed security records and documentation.
  • Investigate identified security breaches according to established procedures and recommend required actions.
  • Assist users in defining access rights and privileges and administer logical access controls and security systems.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and problem-solving activities within the Gateway Operations environment.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • NV2 Security Clearance.
  • Experience with network infrastructure, switches, routers, SNAT/NAT.
  • General firewall experience, preferably a mix of stateful and Layer 7.
  • Firewall proxy experience, Solaris or Linux/Unix experience, understanding of commands and concepts required.
  • Mail experience, understanding server and client setup and maintenance.
  • Troubleshooting experience, root cause analysis of network/computer issues on clients, servers, and network equipment.
  • A general understanding of Computer/Network Security Policies and enforcement.
  • Load Balancing experience.
  • Configuring and supporting Apache, supporting a DNS environment.
  • Supporting Windows Server and associated domains.
  • Scripting skills, Shell, Perl, etc.
